If citizens have found the details that they are looking for and want to learn more about the bailing process, the following section will provide more details.

How To Pay Bail After an Arrest in Contra Costa County California

Once a suspect has been apprehended in Contra Costa County, there are three ways they can post bail:

  • Cash Bail
  • Bail Bonds
  • Property Bonds

In order to be released on bail, someone on behalf of the defendant can pay the bail that is set in cash. This amount will be refunded minus administrative fees if the suspect turns up to court at all court dates.

Similarly, the defendant can also use a property bond. This bond works by involving real estate as surety to cover the bail amount. In order for this method to work an evaluation by a professional will be required.

Lastly, the defendant can purchase a bail bond through a bondsman. The bondsman is an agent who will pay the full bail amount for the suspect if they cannot do so themselves. In return, the suspect will repay the bondsman a percentage of the amount of bail that was set.

This percentage is generally 10% of the original bail amount.

Citizens can refer to the felony or misdemeanor bail schedules to learn more about bail amounts in Contra Costa County.10

While the payment process for bail works the same within county cities like San Ramon the prices differ. The information is all listed with one agency. Citizens looking to learn more about bail amounts in San Ramon can use the police department’s Violation of City Ordinance page for more information.11
